[intro music]

Noah: Hello! I’m Noah and this is Like You, a mindfulness podcast for kids. I’m so glad you’re here! Today’s episode is a special edition music and affirmations podcast, packed with nothing but songs and affirmations.

So listeners of all ages, find a place to listen where you feel comfortable and safe. As I ask questions and invite you to say affirmations, you’re welcome to speak out loud, or as always, you can just think your responses quietly in your mind. And as for the songs, feel free to sing or dance along, or just sit back and listen.

I’m going to start things off with a new breathing song called Wiggle then Breathe. It starts off fast and silly, perfect for wiggling, dancing, and letting all your energy out. Then there’s a sudden shift into a slow and calming breath. See if you can follow along as we move from high energy to calm and relaxed.

First you wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle

Shake your head and dance around

Spin around in a circle

Jump up off the ground

One more wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle

Wiggle high and wiggle low

Spin around a little slower

Let all of your wiggles go

Then you stop

Take a deep breath

Relax head to toe

Close both your eyes

Keep breathing nice and slow

Deep breath in

Deep breath out

Deep breath in

Deep breath out

I hope that song helped you release some energy before calming your body and your mind for the rest of the episode. Now let’s say our first affirmation. It’s a short and simple one that we say at the start of every episode of Like You. So on the count of three let’s all say I like me. 1-2-3 I like me.

I like you too. Whether you’re feeling wild and silly or chill and relaxed, I like you just the way you are.

So let’s say a few affirmations about how wonderful you are. Listen the first time, then repeat it with me the second time.

I inhale confidence and exhale doubt.

Every day I learn and grow.

I keep trying when things are hard.

I am patient when things take time.

I love myself no matter what.

I am so proud of who I am.

And that affirmation is a perfect transition to our next song, I’m proud of you.

I’m proud of you

And I hope that you are too

Not because of what you do

But just for being you

I’m proud of you

And I hope that you’re proud too

And as long as you are you

that always will be true

I’m proud of you

Whether you lose or whether you win

Think a thought that makes you grin

Wherever you go or wherever you’ve been

Be proud of who you are within

I’m proud of you

And I hope that you are too

Not because of what you do

But just for being you

I’m proud of you

And I hope that you’re proud too

And as long as you are you

that always will be true

I’m proud of you

Whether you fly or whether you fall

Lift your eyes up and hold your head tall

If you win the game or if you drop the ball

You’re still the same you after all

I’m proud of you

And I hope that you are too

Not because of what you do

But just for being you

I’m proud of you

And I hope that you’re proud too

And as long as you are you

that always will be true

I’m proud of you

Now it’s time for more affirmations. First I’d like to play an affirmation from a listener.

Mercy: Hi Noah, my name is Mercy. I’m 5 years old. I live in London and my favorite affirmation is I pass my glow down to everyone.

Noah: I pass my glow down to everyone. What a loving affirmation, Mercy. I’m sure your glow is very bright. If any other listeners would like to share a favorite affirmation with me, you can send in a voice memo to play on the podcast. Have a grownup check our website or show notes for more information.

Now we’ll say a few more affirmations . Listen first, then repeat it with me.

I embrace the greatness within me.

I will speak kindly to others and myself.

My thoughts matter.

I’m glad that I am me.

There’s no one better to be than myself.

This next song is about focusing on all the happy moments throughout your day and wrapping those memories up like presents for yourself to open up when you’re having a difficult time. So next time something really happy or exciting happens, stop to notice everything about how you feel in that moment, and save it like a present.

I’m thinking about my day

And what made me feel most pleasant

I’m putting a memory away

I’m wrapping it like a present

I’ve got a good gift to give

I’ll know the right moment to give it

I’ll have a smile on my face

Every time I relive it

I’m saving a moment from my day

And I’ll make it a present to me

I know how to cheer me up

Cause nobody knows me like I do

And when I feel like giving up

I’ll do my best just to try to

I’m wrapping a present to me

I can’t wait for me to see it

I’m wondering what it could be

I’ll store it away ’til I need it

I’m saving a moment from my day

And I’ll make it a present to me

I’m saving a moment from my day

And I’ll make it a present to me

Now let’s say a few affirmations to help you notice and appreciate each little moment as it passes.

I am thankful for this moment.

I have everything I need.

Being present is a present.

I will learn from yesterday and live for today.

I am grateful for all that I have.

Who I am is enough.

I will do my best with whatever comes my way.

Let’s end with one last song. Keeping with our theme of noticing and appreciating each moment, this song is all about living your life in the now.

If today is always today

And tomorrow is a day away

When I wake up tomorrow

Will today be yesterday?

Will the future ever come?

And when did the past end?

How come it is always now

And when did time begin?

I dream about where I’ll go

And I remember all the places I’ve been

But when I open my eyes and look around

Right now is what I’m living in

It’s always now

Forever Now

Now is where I rest

Now is where I play

Now is where I think about what happened yesterday

Now is where I grow

Now is where I plan

Now is where I learn to love the person that I am

It’s always now

Forever Now
