Today we’re going to talk about worry. Then we will blow some bubbles and pop them. Right now, find a place to listen where you feel comfortable and safe and get ready to listen. Remember when I ask you questions, or tell you to repeat something, you can speak out loud, or just think it quietly in your head.

Have you ever blown bubbles before? You know the kind of bubbles where you blow on the wand and clear shiny bubbles float in the breeze all around you? We’re going to imagine doing that on today’s podcast. So let’s start by getting our breath warmed up. Take a deep breath in 123, and blow out 123. When you’re blowing bubbles, you have to blow very gently. If you blow too hard the bubbles will pop before they even have a chance to float. So let’s practice blowing gently and softly. Deep breath in 123. Now gently, blow out. Good. Let’s try it again. Deep breath in 123, and blow gently. I think you’ve got the hang of it! We’re nearly ready to start blowing bubbles now, but first we’re going to count to 3 and say “I like me.” Here we go. 1, 2, 3 “I like me!”

Ok, now let’s pretend to blow a practice bubble. Close your eyes. Imagine you are holding a bubble wand. It is long and thin, with a circle at the end. Raise the circle up in front of your mouth. Now make a circle with your lips and gently blow. Now imagine you are watching the bubble you just blew as it floats gently down and lands on a flower.  We’ll blow a few more bubbles in just a moment, but first I want to talk about worry. You can open your eyes if you want. Or keep them closed if you like to listen that way.

Do you ever feel worried? Do you know what that means? A worry is when you think about something bad that might happen. It might make you feel scared. You might even feel like your stomach is tied in knots. Everybody feels worried sometimes. Grownups, kids, friends and neighbors.

We often worry about what might happen, but a worry does not mean that thing will actually happen. A worry is just a thought in your mind. It is a story you are telling to yourself. And you can change that story.

When you feel worried about something, it helps to tell someone about your worry. Sometimes just saying a worry out loud makes it feel less scary. If you want you can tell me something you worry about. What do you worry about?

Thank you for sharing that worry with me. We all worry about things sometimes. After this podcast is over you can talk to a grownup who you love and trust about your worry. You can also practice sending your worries away.

Right now, we’re going to imagine that our worries are bubbles that we can pop. So first we’re going to blow some more bubbles.

Close your eyes again. Imagine you are standing in a big field of grass. The sun feels warm on your back, there is a gentle breeze blowing,  and you can see wildflowers swaying with the wind. Now raise your bubble wand up in front of your mouth. Make a circle with your lips and gently blow. Now imagine you are watching the bubble float in the air in front of you. We’re going to pretend that the bubble is a worry. So point one finger, reach your hand out, and pop the bubble. And now it is gone. It’s fun to pop a bubble.

Now we’re going to blow lots of bubbles. Raise your bubble want and blow a long breath. Imagine that lots and lots of bubbles are floating all around you. Each bubble is a worry. Now reach out and start popping bubbles. Pop! Pop! Pop! Now while you listen to this song, I want you to keep blowing bubbles and popping your worries away.

It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright to worry
Everybody feels this way sometimes
You have the power to change your own story
Tell someone you love what’s on your mind
Take a deep breath, let it all out
Blow it away on a breeze
Take a deep breath, let it all out
Until you are feeling at ease

Next time you feel worried, imagine you are blowing bubbles and popping them. You can also tell a grownup how you are feeling.

Right now, let’s say some affirmations. Remember, affirmations are short sentences that help you feel good about yourself. you can say these out loud or in your own head. Repeat after me:

I like me *

I am an amazing person.

The world needs someone like me.

It’s ok to make mistakes. *

I have courage and confidence *

Now smile, and take a few slow, deep breathes as we wind down our time together.

I can’t wait to spend some time together again soon! On the next podcast, we’re going to play a simple game called Three Things. It’s an easy game you can play in your own head any time. Until next time, I like you, I’m proud of you, and I’m glad we are friends. Have a happy and peaceful day.
