[intro music]

Noah: Hello! I’m Noah and this is Like You: Mindfulness for Kids. Welcome to our last episode of the season. Thank you to Olivia and Ben for sending in that voice message from the French Alps. I’m glad to hear that you love the songs and affirmations on our podcast because today’s episode is a special edition in the series I call music and affirmations. That means this episode is packed full of nothing but songs and affirmations. This is the seventh episode in the Music and Affirmation series, so be sure to search back through our older episode to find the first six. And for any listeners who know how to read music, here’s an extra surprise. If you piece together the episode artwork from the first six episodes of Music and Affirmations, you’ll discover how to play the melody from the Like You theme song.

Now, listeners of all ages, find a place to listen where you feel comfortable and safe. As I ask questions and invite you to say affirmations, you’re welcome to speak out loud, or as always, you can just think your responses quietly in your mind. And as for the songs, feel free to sing or dance along, or just sit back, relax, and listen.

I’m going to start things off with a brand new breathing song called Breathe Deep Then Sigh. In the background of the music, you’ll hear my breath, breathing in and out through the whole song. You can match your breathing with that to breathe along. And of course you can also breathe in or out any time it says so in the lyrics. You’ll catch on quick. Here we go.

Breathe in

Then out

That’s what this song’s about

Breathe deep

Then sigh

Blow the clouds out of the sky

Breathe in

Then out

That’s what this song’s about

Breathe deep

Then sigh

Sunny feelings fill the sky

Breathe in

Then out

That’s what this song’s about

Thanks for breathing along! I hope that song helped you feel more calm and focused as the podcast begins. Now let’s say our first affirmation. It’s a short and simple one that we say at the start of every episode of Like You. So on the count of three, let’s all say I like me. 1-2-3. I like me.

I like you too. I love spending time together, and I’m proud that you choose to spend time with me.

Let’s say a few more affirmations now. Remember, affirmations are words you can say about your self to remind yourself how wonderful you are. I’ll say each affirmation twice. Listen the first time, then repeat it with me the second time. Here we go.

I love myself exactly as I am.

I am unique, and so is each person I meet.

I search for goodness in the people I meet.

I have courage and confidence.

It’s ok to feel my feelings.

Do your feelings ever feel like they change as much as the weather? Happy, sad, angry, and every other feeling can come and go, just like the weather changes from sunny to cloudy to rainy, and back again. Here’s a song called Weather Patterns to help us remember that.

Sometimes it’s stormy

Sometimes it’s sunny

Sometimes I’m anxious

Sometimes I’m funny

Sometimes it’s cold

Sometimes I’m sad

Sometimes it’s warm

Sometimes I’m glad

Outside the weather is always changing

It may feel different day to day

Inside me, feelings keep rearranging

I feel each one before it goes away

Sometimes it’s foggy

And I feel strange

And when the wind blows

My feelings change

I could feel lonely

When sunshine comes to play

I might feel joyful

Even on a rainy day

The weather patterns are always changing

Things may feel different day to day

And all my feelings keep rearranging

I feel each one before it fades away

Now it’s time for more affirmations. Remember that it’s ok to feel every type of feeling, but you also have the power to choose what you do with those feelings. Listen as I say each affirmation, then repeat it with me. Here we go.

My positive thoughts create positive feelings.

I inhale confidence and exhale doubt

I will do my best with whatever comes my way

I choose to think positively.

The more I let it go, the better I will feel

I embrace the greatness within me

We know our feelings change. Now let’s sing a song about letting each feeling pass, by imagining feelings as waves that wash over us and then wash away. If you want, you can close your eyes and imagine wading in the ocean, surfing the waves, or just relaxing on the beach.

Waves roll in and waves roll out

Waves roll in and waves roll out

And I can feel it all

Feelings come and feelings go

Feelings come and feelings go

And I can feel it all

Some feel big and some feel small

Some feel big and some feel small

But I can feel them all

When angry waves seem too big for me

I take a deep breath and let it pass

And when a happy wave washes over me

I hang ten and ride it as long as it lasts

Waves roll in and waves roll out

Waves roll in and waves roll out

And I can feel it all

Now let’s wind down with a few calm and peaceful affirmations. Listen first, then repeat it with me. Here we go

My heart is happy and relaxed.

I have everything I need.

I am beautiful on the inside and the outside.

I get better every single day

I am calm and peaceful.

I am grateful for this quiet moment.

I am proud of who I am.

Now let’s take this calm feeling with us into our last song. Breathe deep and relax as you imagine yourself glowing bright like the moon.

I know that I’m so bright

Glowing like the moonlight

Calm and peaceful all night

Glowing like the moonlight

Now I’m feeling alright

Glowing like the moonlight

Mmmmmmmm

Glowing like the moonlight

Breathe deep to fill my chest

Til I’m as full as the moon

Relax and let my body rest

Til I’m as full as the moon

I fill my mind with good thoughts

Til I’m as full as the moon

So grateful now for all I’ve got

I feel as full as the moon

I know that I’m so bright

Glowing like the moonlight

Calm and peaceful all night

Glowing like the moonlight

Now I’m feeling alright

Glowing like the moonlight

Mmmmmmmm

Glowing like the moonlight
