Many listeners tell me their favorite parts of the podcast are the affirmations and the songs, so I thought why not create an episode that is ALL songs and affirmations? Introducing a new song “Deep Breath In” along with old favorites “I Like Me” and “Ice Cream Cone.”

Your child can introduce themself and then say a favorite affirmation, sing a line from a Like You song, say what they like about the show, or share whatever they feel! Keep it short (10-20 seconds), send it to our email, and then wait patiently. It is our goal to share every recording eventually!

Like You is a production of Perpetual Motion. The show is written and produced by Noah Glenn. The show’s artwork was illustrated by Mia Saine. Episode art is created by Lindsey Glenn. Fun fact: the music notes on the episode art play the opening notes from the Like You theme song.

This episode features original music by Noah Glenn.

This episode’s affirmations were read by Mia Saine. and Meg Lewis

Noah: Hello! I’m Noah and this is Like You, a mindfulness podcast for kids. I’m glad you’re here! When I get messages from listeners, I often hear from people who say their favorite part of the show are the affirmations and the songs. So today’s episode is all music and affirmations. We’ll listen to a few songs and say affirmations in between each one. I would love to hear from you about your favorite affirmations and songs. I’m looking for anyone who wants to send a voice memo, sharing their favorite affirmation, or singing their favorite song from the podcast. If you have any of those things to share, have a grownup record a voice memo and email it to hello@likeyoupodcast.com. I also want to remind the grownups that this podcast is listener supported, and I’d love to have you join us at patreon.com/likeyoupodcast where you can get early access to each episode and other special patron perks.

Right now we’re ready to start the show, so find a place to listen where you feel comfortable and safe. Feel free to sing along to songs and say affirmations out loud, but if you’d rather keep those things quiet in your head, that’s ok too.

I’ll start with a new song called Deep Breath In. I suggest closing your eyes and taking long deep breaths along with this song. You’ll hear the words deep breath in, long breath out. And you can use those to help guide your breathing. But first, on the count of three say I like me. 1-2-3 I like me.

I like you too. You are as wonderful as music, and you have everything you need to be strong already inside you.

Now take some deep breaths as you listen along.

Now let’s say some affirmations. Affirmations are words you can say to yourself to help you feel good about yourself. For these first affirmations, we’ll be joined by our friend Mia.

Mia: It’s me Mia! Will you repeat these affirmations with me?

With Every breath I feel stronger.

I get better every single day.

It’s ok to make mistakes.

It is enough to do my best.

I deserve to be loved.

Noah: Thank you Mia. We all said some wonderful words about ourselves. I hope those words helped you feel good inside. Let’s keep that feeling going with a song called I Like Me.

I like me

I like me

I grow and change, but stay the same

I am always me

What has been, has been

What will be, will be

I am right here, right now

I like me

Once I was a baby

When I’m grown, who will I be?

It grows from who I am today and

I like me

I like me

I like me

I grow and change, but stay the same

I am always me

I am who I was

I am who I will be

I am always who I am

and I like me

I don’t remember everything

I can’t guess what will be

But I know who I am right now

And I like me

I like me

I like me

I grow and change, but stay the same

I am always me

It’s time for more affirmations. Here’s our friend Meg.

Meg: Hi, it’s your buddy Meg. Are you ready to say some affirmations? Listen the first time, then say it with me the second time.

There is only one me.

I’m so unique that no one in the world is the same as me.

My imagination is amazing.

I am good at so many things.

I will have so much fun today.

Noah: Thanks, Meg. Those were some fun affirmations. They put me in the mood for a fun song. Let’s sing about ice cream cones. Even on a bad day, picturing a great big ice cream cone can put me in a fun mood.

Some days I feel like an ice cream cone

Fresh out of the freezer

Cover me in sprinkles and I’ll smile from ear to ear

Some days I feel like an ice cream cone

Outside during summer

I feel my smile start to melt, and soon it disappears

Sometimes I smile

Sometimes I frown

Sometimes I feel like I’m a puddle on the ground

So when you’re lonely

Or when you’re blue

Just remember I like you

I scream, you scream, we all scream sometimes

So take a deep breath and remember it’s alright

I scream, you scream, we all scream sometimes

When you feel frustrated, you can close your eyes

And picture an ice cream in the flavor you like

And soon you’ll feel alright

Some days I feel like an ice cream cone

Melted on the sidewalk

I’m drippy and I’m droopy oh how did I wind up  here

Some days I feel like an ice cream cone

Fresh out of the freezer

Cover me in sprinkles and I’ll smile from ear to ear

Well that was lots of fun! And this episode went by a lot faster  than I expected. I’ll have to do another music and affirmations episode soon. What would you think of that? Let me know what some of your favorite Like You songs are so I can try to include them next time. You can let me know by having a grownup send an email to hello@likeyoupodcast.com, or ask them to leave a comment on our instagram with your song request. I want to thank you for listening, and singing, saying affirmations today. I want to leave you with one last affirmation. This is one of my favorites. I’ll say it once and then, well you know what to do.

There’s no one better to be than myself.

Now let’s smile and take a few deep breaths as we wind down our time together.

I can’t wait to spend some time together again soon. Until then, I like you, I’m proud of you, and I’m glad we are friends. Have a happy and peaceful day.
