Today’s episode helps us all find the superhero inside each of us. We’ll save the world with our super breath, come up with our own super names, and learn how our own super powers include anything that brings some good into the world for us and the people around us. We’ll also strike hero poses while saying affirmations and listen to a new song.

Alright, listeners of all ages, find a place to listen where you feel comfortable and safe. You’re a part of this podcast so I hope you’ll participate. You can speak out loud share your thoughts and answer questions, or if you’d rather just think things quietly in your head, that’s ok too.

Let’s get started. First, I want you to know that you are a superhero. I mean it! For the rest of this episode imagine that you are a super hero. You have super strength, super bravery, and some special super powers that we’ll talk more about later.

But first, it’s time for you to save the world with your super breathing. Imagine there is a meteor hurtling through space and it looks like it may crash into earth if we don’t stop it. It’s a good thing you have super breath to blow the meteor away. Take your very deepest super breath in. 1-2-3. Now blow long and hard to blow the meteor away. 1-2-3/ Great job, it’s slowing down. Just a few more super breaths to blow it away. Take a long, deep breath in 1-2-3, think super thoughts, and blow your super breath again, 1-2-3. Great job, One more super breath and we’ll blow the meteor away for good! Take a long breath in 1-2-3. And blow with all your super strength. 1-2-3. Now imagine the meteor  sailing away through space, past every planet in our solar system and into the deep cold of space. Way to go! You really saved us with your super breath.

Now on the count of three we’ll all say “I like me.” 1-2-3. I like me.

I like you too. You are stronger, braver, and more powerful than you even realize.

Now that we’ve saved the planet from a meteor let’s talk a little more about what makes you so super. First, if you’re going to be a superhero, you’ll need a superhero name. What would you like your super hero name to be? Maybe it’s grand and powerful sounding like Captain Lightning Bolt or Professor Power. Maybe it’s short and snappy like Zoom or Pep. Maybe it describes something you like about yourself, like Kindness Kid, Bravery Girl, or The Goofball. Or maybe you want to use your real name and add a word to the beginning like mighty, super, or mega.  I think I’ll go with Super Noah. What will your superhero name be? When you think of one, say it loud and proud.

Great! Now you’ve got a super name. Let’s pick super powers. We’ll pick two powers. The first power can be a classic super power like flying, super strength, super speed, being invisible, or shooting lasers from your eyes. I’ll pick flying. What power are you picking?

Now for your second power I want you to think of something you like about your real self, and think of it as a super power. Having super powers is about bringing something great into the world that makes it a better place. And in real life, you have plenty of qualities that make the world a better place for you and all the people around you. Like your sense of humor – think of it as laughter power. Or when you say something kind to someone else – that’s encouragement power. Are you great at picking up toys? You’ve got cleanup power! Do you like making up your own stories, songs, or games? That’s imagination power! Are you great at sensing when someone else feels happy or sad or lonely?  Maybe you have the power of empathy. I will choose the power of mindful breathing. Take a moment to think about your real-life super powers, and let me know what you think of.

Now if you’re able to, I want you to stand up. Hold you head high, put your hands on your hips, think about your super powers and say in your most super voice “I am super!”

Wonderful job! That brings us to today’s affirmations. As we say these affirmations, practice a different superhero pose for each affirmation. Get ready to show off your best superhero poses. Maybe you can flex your muscles, or raise a fist in the air. Cross your arms over your chest. Any pose that makes you feel super. I’ll say each affirmation twice. Listen the first time, then say it with me the second time with your strongest superhero voice.

I am brave and strong

With each breath, I feel stronger

I am full of power

The world needs someone like me.

There’s no one better to be than myself.

I am super!

Let’s end this episode with a new song. As you listen take a few deep breaths and continue to think about what makes you super.

There’s power in my fingertips

There’s power in my toes

I can bring my power with me

Everywhere I go

There’s power in the words I say

And power in my mind

I bring power to the world

Whenever I am kind

I am super

You are too

There’s a hero inside you

I am super

You are super

We’re all super

I can’t wait to spend some time together again soon. Until then, I like you, I’m proud of you, and I’m glad we are friends. Have a happy and peaceful day.
