Arhaan: Hi! I listen to your podcast every night. I’m sending my favorite affirmations. I love myself! I’m strong and responsible. I will work hard today to become better tomorrow. Thank you!

Noah: Hello! I’m Noah and this is Like You, a mindfulness podcast for kids. I’m glad you’re here! I’d like to thank Arhaan Abbas for sending the affirmations you heard at the beginning of the show. If you want to send us your own voice recording to include on the podcast, you can email it to hello@likeyoupodcast.com OR send it in a direct message on instagram if you follow us @likeyoupod. Today, back by popular demand, we’re doing round three of a special Music and Affirmations podcast. We’ll listen to a few songs and say affirmations in between each one. But first, I want to remind the grownups that this podcast is listener supported, and I’d love to have you join us at patreon.com/likeyoupodcast where you can get early access to each episode and other special patron perks when you sign up to make a monthly donation.

Right now we’re ready to start the show, so find a place to listen where you feel comfortable and safe. Feel free to sing along to songs and say affirmations out loud, but if you’d rather keep those things quiet in your head, that’s ok too.

I’ll start with a brand new breathing song. The words of the song will tell you how to do a breathing exercise. First you breathe deep, then you hold it for a moment, then you slowly blow it out. As you listen to the song just breathe along with the instructions, taking deep, slow breathsr.

Breathe deep

Hold it for a moment then

Slowly blow it out

Breathe deep

Hold it for a moment then

Slowly blow it out

And while you’re breathing

Think of happy things

Relax

Keep breathing as I sing

Breathe deep

Hold it for a moment then

Slowly blow it out

Breathe deep

Hold it for a moment then

Slowly blow it out

Fill your lungs

As you breathe along

Hear your heart beat

Adding rhythm to your song

Breathe deep

Hold it for a moment then

Slowly blow it out

Breathe deep

Hold it for a moment then

Slowly blow it out

Great breathing! Now on the count of three we’ll all say I like me. 1-2-3 I like me.

I like you too. Your energy is like a beautiful melody that makes me want to dance.

Now let’s use our imagination to pretend we are birds. Imagine you can feel the cool breeze under your wings as you relax and glide through the sky. You can stand up, spread your wings and slowly act out flying around the room, or you could just close your eyes and use your mind to picture yourself as a bird, soaring peacefully through the clouds.

I’m flying like a bird

I’m flying like a bird

The sky is so blue

And the wind is at my wings

I’m gliding through the air

And it makes me want to sing

I’m flying like a bird

I’m flying like a bird

At first I was a little scared

Of trying something new

But now I’m flying in the sky

And smiling at the view

I’m flying like a bird

I’m flying like a bird

Now let’s say some affirmations. Affirmations are words you can say to yourself to help you feel good about yourself. For these first affirmations, we’ll be joined by our friend Eso.

Eso: Hey! It’s Eso. Are you ready to say some affirmations? Listen the first time, then say it with me the second time.

I am open and ready to learn

I can do big things

I have courage and confidence

I am beautiful inside and out

I deserve to be loved

I am strong on the inside

Noah: Thank you Eso. Since we just heard a song about flying, and then said some affirmations to remind ourselves how super we are, why don’t we sing a song about being a super hero? If you could choose a super power what would it be? As you listen, try dancing how you think a super hero would dance.

There’s power in my fingertips

There’s power in my toes

I can bring my power with me

Everywhere I go

There’s power in the words I say

And power in my mind

I bring power to the world

Whenever I am kind

I am super

You are too

There’s a hero inside you

I am super

You are super

We’re all super

It’s time for more affirmations. To lead us, please welcome our friend Mia.

Mia: It’s me, Mia! Will you repeat these affirmations with me?

I am proud of me

If I fall I will get up again

I speak up for what is right

When something is wrong, I can change it

There is beauty in our differences

The world needs someone like me

Noah: Thanks, Mia. It’s been fun saying affirmations and singing these songs with you today. I want you all to remember that you don’t have to be a bird or a super hero to feel proud of yourself. As I always say, there’s no one better to be than yourself. And sometimes you feel happy, sometimes you feel sad, sometimes you feel like relaxing, and sometimes you feel like dancing. However you feel, and whatever you do, you’re always you, and that’s the best thing to be! So while you listen to this last song, do whatever you feel like doing, whether that’s dancing, singing, taking deep breaths, or standing on your head! Just be you and do what you want to do.

When I’m up I’m up

When I’m down, I’m down

When I smile I smile

When I frown, I frown

When I’m me I’m me

And that’s who I’ll always be

When I’m me I’m me and that’s who I like to be

Thank you for listening, and singing, saying affirmations today. Be sure to let me know what some of your favorite Like You songs are so I can try to include them next time. Or send in a voice message saying your favorite affirmation for me to play on the show. I can’t wait to spend some time together again soon. Until then, I like you, I’m proud of you, and I’m glad we are friends. Have a happy and peaceful day.
