Hey Everyone! Before we start, I want to tell you about another podcast you might enjoy. Like You is part of a collective of children’s podcasters called Kids Listen. And Kids Listen has just launched a podcast called Mashups. Every episode of Mashups takes two different podcasts and mashes them together with clips, conversations, and games. It’s a great way to discover new podcasts you might enjoy. And you guessed it, Like You will make an appearance on Mashups later this season, so be sure to check it out and maybe find a new show you love!

Now let’s start the show!

[intro music]

Noah: Hello! I’m Noah and this is Like You, a mindfulness podcast for kids. I’m so glad you’re here! When I hear from listeners, it’s pretty common that they tell me their favorite part of Like You is either the music of the affirmations. So every once in a while I make a special episode that is all music and affirmations! This is the fourth edition of Music and Affirmations, and here’s a secret fact for any musicians out there. If you go back and look at the episode cover art for every edition of Music and Affirmations, you can put them together and learn how to play the melody for the Like You theme song! You can check our website or our episode list on any podcast platform to find those previous editions of music and affirmations. You can seek those out later, but for now, listeners of all ages, find a place to listen where you feel comfortable and safe. As I ask questions and invite you to say affirmations, you’re welcome to speak out loud, or as always, you can just think your responses quietly in your mind.

I’m going to start things off with a new breathing song. It’s pretty simple and straight forward, so you’ll be able to listen and breathe along with the words. It’s a calm relaxing song, so I suggest you close your eyes, relax your body, and clear your mind as you breathe along.

Breathe in

Breathe out

Breathe in

Breathe out

Clear your mind

Take your time

Close your eyes

Look inside

Breathe in

Breathe out

Breathe in

Breathe out

Hopefully that breathing song helped you relax and focus your mind. Now we’ll say our first affirmation of the episode. It’s a short and simple one that we say on every episode of Like You. So on the count of three let’s all say I like me. 1-2-3 I like me.

I like you too. And I always enjoy the time we spend together.

Let’s say a few affirmations about how wonderful you are. Listen the first time, then repeat it with me the second time.

There’s no one better to be than myself.

I’m proud of me.

I love myself exactly as I am.

Other people love me.

I will do my best with whatever comes my way.

Next up we have a song about loving yourself and loving the world.

Love yourself and love the world

Every boy and every girl

Love yourself and love the world

Love the flowers, love the squirrels

Love yourself and love the world

Trees that sway and leaves that twirl

Love yourself and love the world

Sunlight shines and water swirls

Love yourself and love the world

Every boy and every girl

Keep thinking about everything that you love about yourself and about the world, as we say a few more affirmations. You know the drill. Listen first, then repeat it with me.

I woke up today ready to love.

I will notice the beauty around me.

I am thankful for this moment.

I will share my love with others.

The world needs someone like me.

Next I want to sing a song about handling some of your uncomfortable feelings. We all feel scared sometimes. Scared of the dark, scared of a storm, scared of making a mistake, scared of what other people might think. Feeling afraid is normal, and it is a chance to practice being brave.

Being brave

Doesn’t mean you’re never scared

Being brave

Doesn’t mean your fears aren’t there

When I feel afraid

I know that’s ok

When I feel afraid

That’s my chance to practice being brave

Being strong

Doesn’t mean you can do it all

Being strong

Doesn’t mean you never fall

When I feel afraid

I know that’s ok

When I feel afraid

That’s my chance to practice being brave

Being brave

Doesn’t mean you’re never scared

Being brave

Doesn’t mean your fears aren’t there

When I feel afraid

I know that’s ok

When I feel afraid

That’s my chance to practice being brave

Now let’s say a few affirmations that are great for helping you feel face your fears and anxieties.

I am stronger than my fear.

I have courage and confidence.

I am brave and strong.

With every breath I feel stronger.

No matter how hard it is, I can do it.

Let’s end with one last song. This is one of my favorites. It’s called I’m Glad That I Am Me.

I’m glad that I am me

I’m glad that you are you

I’m glad that we both do the things

That we each like to do

I’m glad that I know you

I’m glad you know me too

We’re different but we teach each other

Things we never knew

What if you were me?

And what if I were you?

Would we still do the same things

That we’ve always liked to do? I wonder…

But you’ll always be you

And I’ll always be me

We learn and grow and change our clothes

But stay the same beneath

I’m glad that I am me

I’m glad that you are you

I’m proud of how you’re growing

And I like your point of view

And I like you

Thank you for listening, and singing, saying affirmations today. Be sure to let me know what some of your favorite Like You songs are so I can try to include them next time. Or send in a voice message saying your favorite affirmation for me to play on the show. I can’t wait to spend some time together again soon. Until then, I like you, I’m proud of you, and I’m glad we are friends. Have a happy and peaceful day.
